Not just food: Rappi already has hotel service

The micro-stay platform ByHours will join forces with Rappi to offer stays in hotels such as City Express for shorter periods than the usual 24 hours, with which users will be able to access stays of three, six and 12 hours through the application in around of 2,500 hotels in the Latin American region.

The idea of ByHours is to break with the limitation of being able to check-in usually at 3 in the afternoon and having as a limit one departure at noon, explains Guillermo Gaspart, CEO and founder of ByHours, because through this platform you can access formats of shorter stays and that allow you to set the time of entry at any time of the day.

“At the hotel level, we focus on large cities. Today we are in Mexico City with a good presence, in Monterrey, Puebla and Guadalajara. We have more than 200 hotels in Mexico and we have an alliance with an important chain, City Express Hotels “, he refers.

The ByHours platform will be added to the Rappi Travel offer, which currently has the option to purchase flights, hotel rentals and vehicle rentals.

With the alliance, the platform calculates that it will be possible to access a portfolio of 2,000 hotels in Latin America. In total, ByHours has a presence in 25 countries between the Latin American and European regions, mainly in independent hotels from 3 to 5 stars.

The firm operates under a hotel reservation scheme similar to that of other platforms such as Despegar, Booking and Expedia, in which an agreement is reached with a hotel for the distribution of stays in exchange for a commission, which is only given when it is generated. the reservation, since the platform does not buy rooms or reserve them in advance.

For ByHours, Mexico is the second largest market in the world, only behind Barcelona, where they have their main offices.

To date, the platform is carrying out a financing round to continue growing, in a strategy where Mexico will continue to be key, and which is added to an intention to expand into new markets.

“During 2021 and 2022, where the reserves behaved best was in Latin America. Europe is still there and we want to open the United States, but in Latin America the behavior is spectacular, and with what may happen with Rappi, it could be greater”, concludes the executive.
