The Ministry of Energy reported this Friday that the average oil production so far this year was 745,522 barrels average day (bpd), which represents a drop of 12.6% compared to the same period of 2021 , when it was 853,884 bpd. .
According to the portfolio, in April 2021 production registered a 6.3% decrease compared to April 2020, consolidating 745,488 bpd compared to 796,164 bpd in 2020.

Even so, the Government highlighted that oil production last month did not register a variation compared to March 2021 (745,427 bpd). He assures that this is due to the “optimization and restoration of production” after the impact of deferred in fields such as Rubiales (Puerto Gaitán, Meta), Acordionero (San Martín, Cesar), Capella (La Macarena, Meta) and Tigana ( Tauramena, Casanare).
Drilling of two exploratory wells and 38 development wells in Colombia also began in April 2021, for a total of 9 exploratory wells and 123 development wells so far this year, the ministry said.
The average production of commercialized gas in Colombia, for its part, registered an increase of 5.92% during the first four months of 2021 , reaching 1,097 million cubic feet per day (mpcpd) compared to the 1,035 mpcpd reported in the same period of the year 2020.
Gas also recorded a 27.8% recovery during April 2021 compared to the same month last year, with 1,057 million cubic feet per day (mcfd). Compared to March 2021 (1,091 mpcpd), the production of this energy had a decrease of 3.1%.

According to the portfolio, this behavior in production during the month of April was due to lower production in the Nelson (Pueblo Nuevo, Córdoba), Kananaskis (Tauramena, Casanare), Gibraltar (Toledo, Norte de Santander), Cusiana and Cupiagua fields Sur (Aguazul, Casanare), this due to the behavior of gas demand in the month.
