The owner seems to have had a real hatred for Duke. First, he spread a rumor in the area that the puppy had an infectious disease. Then he chained the dog, whose front legs were broken, to an old trailer outside and left him without food. Fortunately, a neighbor called the animal welfare organization “Rudozem Street Dog Rescue”. Duke found this completely starved, infested with vermin and covered in his own excrement.
“It stank of ammonia. His feet were shattered, the bones in them just shifting freely. He could hardly move, ”said Tony Rowles, one of the founders of the animal welfare organization. His rescuers were able to free Duke from his bonds and took him to the vet. There his wounds were tended and his bones straightened. In addition to his injuries, Duke also had a cough caused by the chain damaging his neck.
Several operations were necessary to straighten Duke’s forelegs. But today the puppy lives a happy life with a loving adoptive family. He was able to get rid of his initial distrust of people.
