“Panoramic Sessions”: music and resistance in times of Covid-19

Panoramica Sessions is an audiovisual project that seeks to reactivate the economy of the creative sector with four concerts by four musical groups, broadcast as live sessions. The first presentation is on June 3 at 6:00 pm with the Bogota rock group Mad Tree.

In 2020, due to the economic crisis that the Covid-19 brought to the cultural and creative sector, the Idartes and ten local municipalities of Bogotá launched the call Es Cultura Local in order to promote the chain of creative economies.

For this call, Federico Arbeláez Cano, a member of the recording and production studio Pan Panoramica SoundWorks; Nicolás Salazar, from the musical group Los Pangurbes; and Carolina Zárate, from the audiovisual house Vorágine, presented the Panoramica Sessions project, in order to reactivate the economic chain behind a live session in a recording studio.

The proposal consisted of inviting four musical groups from Bogotá that had not stopped their musical work during this time of Covid-19 to carry out recording sessions in the Pan Panamá SoundWorks studio, so that it would reactivate its economy, taking into account that a recording live is mediated by a photo director, a video director, a field producer, a general direction, among others, in addition to the protagonists of the session. With this initiative, the group led by Federico Arbeláez obtained the resources of Es Cultura Local to encourage creative economies.

The four sessions of Panoramica Sessions are 45 minutes each and were recorded with the groups Mad Tree (rock), Bimol (electronic), Los Pangurbes (fusion) and Tsh Sudaca (rap), which were also chosen for their sensitivity Social. In each session the street environments of the open-air concerts in Chapinero were recreated.
