“Yes, Quintana confirmed us, he is going to participate,” said Orit Btesh, president of the Panamanian Chamber of Books and organizer of the International Book Fair of Panama. Btesh, businesswoman and owner of the El Hombre de La Mancha bookstore chain, said that Quintana will present Los abismos at the literary meeting, a work that delves into “the darkness of the adult world through the point of view of a girl” , as stated by the jury of the Alfaguara Novel Prize, when making public the decision of the contest. Likewise, Btesh added that Chilean writer Isabel Allende is among the writers who have been invited to the next edition of FIL.
As for Los abismos , the jury, chaired by the Colombian writer Héctor Abad Faciolince, highlighted that it is a novel that has as a backdrop the narrow female universe formed by women accommodated to their lives who cannot break with an education from another time . In addition to presenting her novel, declared the winner of the Alfaguara by majority, the Colombian author will participate in the maximum festival of letters in Panama in a colloquium on literature, according to the director of FIL.
