Francis, who is considered a football fan, “shared the joy of the victory of the Argentine and Italian national teams with the people close to him”. The head of the Catholic Church therefore emphasized the importance and values of sport to be able to accept any result, even a defeat. This is the only way to face the difficulties in life, explained the 84-year-old Argentine.
On Sunday, Italy beat hosts England 3-2 on penalties. It is the second European title in the history of the Italian national team.
