Corona in Greece: Far-reaching easing – also on popular holiday islands

In the second quarter, the 14 million-inhabitant state was one of the few countries in the world to regain the level of economic output from the time before the Corona crisis *. This is what the world writes – and reports from many tourists from the USA and France. As of Saturday, October 9th, numerous relaxations of the Corona rules have come into force – at least for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered *.

Bars, restaurants, cafés, fitness studios and cinemas will in future again be able to allow the maximum number of guests in their interiors. Insofar as they can provide evidence of a vaccination against Corona * or have recovered from an infection with the virus in the past six months. Even more: The Greek police announced that they would strictly control evidence of vaccinated and convalescent people. There is no mask requirement in the named indoor areas. However, there is no talk of negative tests as a sufficient protective measure.

Mini-lockdowns for the so-called red regions of Thessaloniki, Larissa, Chalkidiki, Kilkis, Argolida, Kastoria, Imathia, Pieria, Pella, Kavala, Xanthi and Drama were also lifted on October 9th. Of course, the new Corona rules * also apply to the holiday islands popular with tourists such as Crete, Rhodes, Santorin or Mykonos. Greece is one of the countries that have cracked down on mandatory vaccinations. This applies to employees in the health sector. Reason enough for the big all-clear? It is not so.
