Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that this Tuesday he will have a call with the president of the United States, Joe Biden , at 5:30 in the afternoon.
“Relations with the United States are very good and we don't want a lawsuit. So much so that yesterday (Monday) Marcelo Ebrard told me that they were looking for him from the White House because he wants to talk to me on the phone, today, President Biden, ”said the president in the morning conference, assuring that there is a “very good” relationship between Mexico and the United States.
If the relationship between the two countries was not good, "these talks would not take place," added the president.
He also assured that the Mexico-United States relationship is carried out "on an equal footing, with respect for our sovereignty."
When asked about the consultations on energy matters, López Obrador said that the process continues, after he said last Friday that the United States had ruled out the possibility of a panel of experts.
On October 3, the 75-day consultation process established by the T-MEC ended, however, Mexico, the United States and Canada agreed to extend the deadline to reach an agreement without the need to reach the international panel.
Likewise, he maintained that “our relationship with the application of our sovereign policy in electrical matters, in oil matters, in the management of lithium, is not affected at all. That is not subject to any negotiation, to any treaty," he said.
