Result European elections: Borrell gives the European victory to the PSOE, Vox enters with 3 seats and Puigdemont and Junqueras achieve theirs

The PSOE list to the European Parliament headed by the acting Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell, has won the elections held this Sunday by obtaining 20 seats (32.8%). For its part, the PP has harvested 12 representatives (20.1%) as the second force, avoiding the ‘sorpasso’ of Citizens (12.2%), which has been placed in third place with 7 parliamentarians. For its part, Unidas Podemos has registered 6 seats (10%) and Vox has made its debut in the European Parliament with 3 (6%). Those who have also won a seat have been former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, a fugitive from the Spanish Justice, and the Former Vice President of the Generalitat and former Minister of Economy Oriol Junqueras, heads of the list of the separatist formations Junts Per Catalunya (JxCat) and Now Repúblicas, respectively.Junqueras was suspended last Friday as a deputy in Congress when he was in prison and being processed for rebellion after the coup in Catalonia in 2017. JxCat’s candidacy has obtained 2 seats (4%), while Now Repúblicas has added 3 minutes (5%). Puigdemont’s candidacy prevailed in Catalonia with 28.57%, followed by the PSC, with 22.1% of the votes, and ERC, in third place with 21.18%. For its part, the Coalition for Europe, which includes the nationalists of the PNV and the Canary Islands Coalition, among others, has been left with one seat (2.8%). In the event that Brexit materializes, the formations of Spain would be divided into five more seats than would go to PSOE (1), PP (1), Ciudadanos (1), Vox (1) and Now Repúblicas (1). The 2014 European elections were won by the PP with 16 seats and 26.06% , followed by the PSOE with 14 seats and 23% percent of the votes. In third place was the United Left, which obtained almost 10% and six seats.Next came Podemos, which was competing for the first time in elections with five seats and almost 8%. For its part, Unión Progreso y Democracia (UPyD) won 6.50% and four seats, followed by Coalition for Europe, formula with which the CDC, PNV and the Canary Islands Coalition and Compromiso por Galicia were presented, obtaining 3 seats. The EPDD, the coalition for which ERC participated, obtained 2 seats and 4.02%. The same seats were obtained by Ciudadanos, although with 3.16% of the votes. Finally, the Los Pueblos Deciden (LPD) coalition, where EH Bildu joined, won a seat, as did the European Spring coalition.Participation in the European elections this Sunday has been very high in Spain due to the drag of the coincidence with the municipal and regional elections. Specifically, it has exceeded by more than 15 points the one registered five years ago Le Pen wins in France The victory of the Socialists in Spain and Portugal, under the government of Antonio Costa here, contrasts with the disaster of his counterparts in many of the States members. Thus, the conservatives have prevailed, for example, in countries such as Germany, Austria or Greece, while the National Regrouping of Marine Le Pen has defeated in France the centrists of President Emmanuel Macron, and the nationalist-conservatives of the Ley y party. Justice (PiS) have expired in Poland.
