The Ministry of Agriculture enabled an application to register, obtain the information of the regulation and present the requirements until June 8, 2021.
This week, the Ministry of Agriculture presented the regulations for four small producers to become part of the National Technical Board for Local Public Food Purchases.
This instance will be in charge of ensuring that public and private entities that administer public resources and purchase food allocate at least 30% in their budgets . It will also seek to include in their purchases the production of small farmers and ranchers throughout the country.

According to the Agriculture portfolio, a man and a woman will be chosen by the organizations of producers of family and community peasant agriculture, and a man and a woman by the organizations of small agricultural producers.

It goes without saying that organizations may only register to represent one of the two types of population: small producers or producers of peasant, family and community agriculture of a national character.

After completing the registration stage, the portfolio will carry out a verification and publish the lists of the organizations authorized to be elected or electors. The election will be advanced according to the votes registered and valued by the ministry through the simple majority mechanism, this is half plus one.
“I invite the organizations of producers of family and community peasant agriculture and the organizations of small agricultural producers of a national character, to participate and register to be part of the Technical Board of Public Food Purchases”, said the Minister of Agriculture , Rodolfo Zea.
