The corona incidence values in Spain and the Netherlands are rising continuously. German politicians seem to be reacting.
Madrid / Amsterdam – The Corona * situation in Spain and the Netherlands is currently worsening. This development could lead to further restrictions for travelers. The federal government is apparently planning to declare the two countries to be so-called high incidence areas on Friday (23.07.2021). This is reported by the newspapers of the Funke media group, including the Berliner Morgenpost.
The Robert Koch Institute defines a “high incidence area” as follows: “High incidence areas are risk areas with particularly high numbers of cases.” This is an increased warning level for tourists.
The Netherlands was recently put on the list of risk areas by the RKI. The number of new infections increases on site from day to day. * On Thursday (July 22nd, 2021), for example, the value was 388.5. Spain has been a corona risk area for around two weeks. There the incidence on Thursday was 381.2.
Spain and Netherlands soon to be corona high incidence area: This is new for travelers
For travelers on vacation in Spain *, one detail changes that does not affect everyone: So far, a negative corona test was necessary for the return trip to Germany, because Spain was classified as a risk area. However, if you are not fully vaccinated and want to travel to Germany from a high-incidence area, you have to go into quarantine for ten days.
However, this can be shortened if a corona test turns out negative on the fifth day after entry. However, if travelers can show full vaccination protection or recovery, the new rule is irrelevant.
The same applies to the Netherlands vacation during the pandemic *: In this case, too, the corona quarantine regulation applies – if the federal government should declare Holland to be a high incidence area.
