Numerous regions in the United States are grappling with a heat wave. Cities are now taking precautions to protect people from the extreme temperatures.
Even on the weekend it gets very hot in most parts of Germany. There is also a threat of storms and the risk of forest fires is high. And not only here: the weather is extreme in many other countries too.
Large parts of the country are groaning under the heat: The German Weather Service predicts up to 37 degrees for eastern Germany. Towards the weekend there could be heavy thunderstorms.
It will probably be weeks before tram traffic in Karlsruhe returns to normal. Due to heat damage, almost all of the local public transport there has failed.
The heat has Germany firmly under control when it comes to the weather. Will it continue with temperatures well above 30 degrees and tropical nights or will it be cooling off soon?
