The American Sempra is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange

The US company Sempra Energy announced on Friday its debut on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) after, after a public share exchange offer, it managed to increase its shareholding in its Mexican subsidiary IEnova, led by Tania Ortiz Mena.

The US company went from owning 70.2% to 96.4% of the company's shares, according to a statement issued this morning.

Sempra Energy, which has a capitalization value close to 40,000 million dollars, trades its shares on the Mexican market at a price per share of 2,699 pesos, the same price at which it closed on the New York Stock Exchange, in the previous session.

"This is a sign of our commitment to invest in the future of Mexico through energy infrastructure," Tania Ortiz, IEnova's director, said in the statement.

Sempra is an American company specialized in energy transmission and distribution projects with a special presence in Texas and California.

Meanwhile, IEnova, one of the main players in the electricity generation market in the country, developed together with TC Energía the Texas-Tuxpan gas pipeline, which was renegotiated at the beginning of this six-year term, and is currently developing a liquefied gas export project from Mexico to Asia.

How would the elimination of daylight saving time affect the markets?

The elimination of summer time in Mexico does not affect the operations of the stock market, since the Stock Exchanges adjust their hours, opening and closing at the same time as the US Stock Exchange.
