At the end of June there was no “fast food” for the customers of a McDonalds branch. Rather, people waited in front of the fast food restaurant, puzzled, and looked into an empty sales room. The entire workforce had apparently resigned in one fell swoop.
The unusual process became known to a larger audience through a short video on the TikTok Internet platform.

TikTok is a social network on which users can upload short video clips with a maximum length of three minutes in portrait format. The network is operated by the Chinese company ByteDance. Google offers a similar offer under the name Shorts on Youtube.
The group termination at McDonalds is said to have occurred on June 28th in Great Britain, on the same day the TikTok user “zoey.isback” posted a video about it on the Internet. On the one hand, this shows the people waiting in front of the McDonalds branch, but also the screen in the deserted restaurant, which shows that no orders are being processed.
