The Superior Audit finds an alleged damage to the public treasury for 588 million pesos

In its first delivery of the review to the 2020 Public Account of the federal government, the Superior Audit of the Federation (ASF) found an alleged damage to the treasury for 588 million 840,000 pesos. This figure is derived from 125 audits of various ministries, state companies and federal programs.

Of that amount, 466.24 million, equivalent to 79.8% of the total, are pending clarification of their destination. Only 122.59 million pesos were verified during the reviews of the ASF.

Practically half of the total amount to be verified corresponds to the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT). According to the 11 audits they performed, 283.72 million had observations for damages. Only 5.48 million of that amount have been verified and reimbursed. The rest is pending clarification.

Other audited agencies, and whose results were released in this first installment, were the secretariats of Finance and Public Credit, National Defense, Health, Environment and Natural Resources, Education, as well as the state companies Pemex and the Federal Electricity Commission. (CFE).

The ASF makes three deliveries of its review to the Public Account of the federal government. The next presentation will be in October of this year and the last and most extensive will arrive in February 2022.

According to Gabriel Yorio, Undersecretary of Finance, the amount is in line with the goal of maintaining debt as a percentage of GDP in a constant and stable manner.
