The Hubble space telescope of the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA has captured the first images of the birth of a star . As the experts have explained, the photograph shows a Herbig Ae / BI-type star – young stars that have not yet entered the main sequence and that are enveloped in clouds of gas and dust – in one of the first phases of its formation, so they estimate that it is "only" a few million years old .
Specifically, the image shows trails of gas and dust, shining from the reflected light of the surrounding stars, around the star IRAS 10082-5647.
The young star in the portrait has not yet reached the phase called "main sequence", which represents 80 percent of their life and in which they create energy by burning hydrogen in their core. Until then, the star remains hot due to the gravitational collapse of the material that composes it , which turns it into an increasingly dense body and generates high pressures that emit enormous amounts of heat.
ESA has noted that the revealing photography has been achieved thanks to the Advanced Camera for Surveys , installed on board the telescope two years ago and capable of capturing the spirals and arcs of the illuminated nebula. With this same camera, the image of the most distant galaxy observed so far was recently obtained.
