Shortly after take-off at Stuttgart Airport, a small plane crashes in a forest in the Boeblingen district. All three inmates die.
Steinenbronn – After a small plane crashed, emergency services in the Böblingen district reported three bodies to the crash site. So far, the identities of the fatalities are still unclear, said a police spokesman on Saturday afternoon (July 17, 2021). The recovery of the bodies in the middle of the densely wooded crash site is still in progress, the police said. Both the fire brigade and the rescue service are on site with many emergency services.
The small aircraft is a “Piper” type machine. According to the Stuttgart airport, the plane took off at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday morning. The cause of the crash has not yet been clarified, the investigations continue, according to the responsible police. An expert from the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigations was found at the crash site, the flight recorder was reportedly found.

In a first report from the German Air Traffic Control (DFS) it is said that the single-engine machine has lifted off in the direction of Amgdeburg. There were three occupants on board. According to DFS, the pilot reported to the control center in Langen, Hesse, shortly after take-off, but then the machine disappeared from the radar. A spokeswoman for DFS announced that the pilot had not made an emergency call. Only around twenty minutes after take-off, the plane that crashed was found in the forest near Steinenbronn.
Now the investigations should show whether technical defects or a medical emergency with the pilot was the reason for the crash, said a police spokesman. (Mirko Schmid with dpa)
