Tough lockdown for unvaccinated people in Germany? A country wants to do it

Strict rules already apply to unvaccinated people in many places in Germany. Could exit restrictions also be added?

3G, 2G, lockdown? The rules for people without a corona vaccination are becoming stricter in many places. While unvaccinated people were able to act in the same way as vaccinated or recovered people using a daily negative test for a long time, this no longer applies everywhere, reports echo24.de *. Now there is even a lockdown for them in the room. At least in Austria. There, the basis for a lockdown exclusively for unvaccinated people has already been set in motion. Is this tough solution in the fight against Corona also conceivable in Germany?

Austria has already massively increased the pressure on unvaccinated compatriots. A tightening of the corona measures under certain conditions is already a done deal. Specifically, this means that if the situation in the intensive care units deteriorates dramatically, unvaccinated people would have to go into a lockdown – including strict exit restrictions. According to Austria’s Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg, there should be no lockdown for those who have been vaccinated or recovered.

Lockdown for unvaccinated people in Germany too? A country shows how it is done

In Germany, too, the corona situation has recently worsened again. In Baden-Württemberg, for example, there is already another threat of a so-called warning level *. In the worst-case scenario, unvaccinated people in particular would again have to deal with hard rules *. The background is that unvaccinated people in particular who are infected with corona end up in intensive care units. As of October 23, around 31 percent of people in Germany had not received a corona vaccination. Two federal states have already reacted clearly to the development.

Lockdown possible exit and contact restrictions for unvaccinated persons

In Hesse and Lower Saxony, retailers can already decide whether they want a 2G model or not. In theory, this would even affect food giants like Kaufland * or Lidl *. The supermarket has already taken a clear position on this and the discounter also surprises with a clear announcement *.

Lockdown for the unvaccinated? Hard-hitting rules partly a done deal

In Baden-Württemberg, an expanded 2G model would also affect sports events, for example. Those who rely on the regulation here will deny access to unvaccinated people. But: those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered no longer have to wear masks. Numerous restaurants in Stuttgart are already using 2G *.

Baden-Württemberg alert

There is a three-stage system in the current Corona regulation for Baden-Württemberg. Here it says: “The alert is called when the hospitalization incidence reaches or exceeds 12 on five working days in a row or the occupancy of the intensive care beds reaches or exceeds 390 on two consecutive working days.” come into force for unvaccinated persons:

Contact restrictions: 1 household + 1 additional person

No access to: Public events, cultural institutions (with a few exceptions), trade fairs and the like, restaurants and entertainment venues, leisure facilities, tourist traffic, sports, etc.

only with PCR test: body-hugging services, accommodation

If the situation worsens, contact restrictions apply again in the so-called alert level in Baden-Württemberg. A household should then only meet with one other person. De facto, however, this regulation would also deliberately affect unvaccinated people. Because: those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered, children up to 17 and those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons do not count.

Lockdown for the unvaccinated? Austria could become a role model

Exit restrictions as they are planned in Austria are not planned for unvaccinated persons in Baden-Württemberg at the moment. Otherwise, a strict lockdown for unvaccinated people has not been an issue so far.

However: people who do not want to be vaccinated against the coronavirus could do a lot, given the consistent 2G regulations. Nevertheless: If the numbers continue to rise, one could possibly even look at the even stricter regulations in neighboring Austria in Germany. * echo24.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
