Toyota appoints Guillermo Díaz as new president for Mexico

Guillermo Díaz is the new president of Toyota Motor Sales and Lexus de México, replacing Tom Sullivan, who will step down after 35 years with the company.

Díaz has accumulated experience in various areas of the company during the 20 years he has been with it, from a first position as deputy director of Sales and Marketing at Toyota Financial Services; to the vice presidency of Operations within Toyota Motor Sales of Mexico, which was the last position he held before Bob Carter, executive vice president of sales for Toyota Motor of North America, offered him the chair of the presidency.

“All this knowledge of the company, added to his love for cars, passion for his work and the implementation of continuous improvement following the Toyota Way, is what has now led the firm to appoint him as the new President,” he said. the company in a statement.

Tom Sullivan, who has held the position for the last nine years, said that “ceding the legacy of Toyota Motor Sales and Lexus de México to Memo – as everyone in the company knows him – is a real joy and cause for celebration. His talent, his leadership skills and his passion for doing things better every day, I am sure will guarantee that Toyota in Mexico will continue to reap great successes for many years to come.”

Díaz has the challenge of maintaining the brand’s leadership in electrification and increasing the offer of hybrid models. “In this way, its goal will be to continue promoting Toyota as a mobility company and build an electrified and sustainable Mexico.”

Today, the automaker has 85% of sales of this type of vehicle in the country.
