Tragic accident: bus with refugees from Ukraine crashed in Italy

A coach carrying refugees from Ukraine crashed on the autobahn in Italy. A woman dies at the scene of the accident.

Cesena – The bus came off the road on Sunday morning on the A14 near Cesena near the Adriatic coast for an initially unknown reason and overturned on its side, the police said. The fatality is a 32-year-old woman from Ukraine who was trapped on board the bus and succumbed to her injuries, reports the German Press Agency (dpa).

Another five occupants were injured, but not seriously, as the police specified. The dpa reports about 20 refugees from the Ukraine conflict – other news sources about 50 inmates. According to dpa, some children are said to have been on the bus. The fire brigade was involved in the salvage work, and they erected the bus on the side of the road with two special cranes.

The bus with a Ukrainian license plate had set off in the Eastern European country and had Pescara in Abruzzo as its destination. There was a sign behind the windshield that read “Sonderfahrt” in Ukrainian, as shown in pictures of the accident. (you with dpa)
