TV Total follows "Wetten, dass ..?": Stefan Raab brings back the ProSieben show

TV Total is back. As before “Wetten, dass ..?” On ZDF, ProSieben is bringing back the successful show with Stefan Raab. It will be moderated by someone else.

Unterföhring – ProSieben brings TV Total back to German television with new episodes. As before “Wetten, dass ..?” On ZDF, the station from Unterföhring near Munich is back on its former ratings hit. “Embarrassing or cashing in”, “Raab in danger”, the “Nippelboard” and Elton – almost all of them remember unforgettable TV moments. For almost six years now, the German audience has had to do without the hit show by Stefan Raab, who said goodbye on December 16, 2015.

Recently, TV Total had to struggle with falling ratings, which is why Stefan Raab pulled the plug. Now the format is returning to prime time “from the longest summer break in the world”, as ProSieben announced on Monday (November 8, 2021). Stefan Raab is also there again – but only as a producer. His production company RaabTV is behind the TV fun, but Raab will not appear in front of the camera again as a presenter. Sebastian Pufpaff replaces him. The 45-year-old is known for his 3sat show “Pufpaffs Happy Hour” and appearances on the ZDF show today.

TV Total with Stefan Raab created unforgettable moments on ProSieben – now it’s Sebastian Pufpaff’s turn

With this, Pufpaff is following in big footsteps. Over the years Raab, like Thomas Gottschalk with “Wetten, dass ..?” Reliably gathered a wide audience in front of the TV. With snippets of clips taken out of context, for example from trashy talk show formats, Raab created iconic classics, including the chart hit “Chain Link Fence”, which in 1999 became the number one hit in Germany.

Sebastian Pufpaff übernimmt das schwere Erbe von Stefan Raab und wird neuer Moderator des Formats TV Total.

Sebastian Pufpaff takes over the heavy legacy of Stefan Raab and becomes the new presenter of the TV Total format.

The hit “Get me a bottle of beer” will also not be forgotten. In 2000, Stefan Raab cut scraps of an autograph session by the then Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in TV Total episode 51 and made his humorous saying “Get me a bottle of beer, otherwise I’ll strike here and won’t write any further” as a catchy tune.

The joint appearances of Stefan Raab with Galileo presenter Aiman Abdallah are also legendary. Including Raab’s unforgettable fit of laughter when a girl presented an invention – a back scratcher for her father. Like Raab, a whole generation had tears of laughter in their eyes when they watched him try in vain to keep his composure.

TV Total with Sebastian Pufpaff will be launched on ProSieben in November

It is not yet known whether there will be formats like “Raab in Danger” or “Raab der Woche” with Sebastian Pufpaff. So far, ProSieben has kept a low profile on the content of the revived format. However, TV Total fans don’t have to wait long, Pufpaff will celebrate its premiere next Wednesday (November 10, 2021, 2015 on ProSieben). From then on, the revival should flicker on the screen every week and, if successful, could establish itself similarly to the original with Stefan Raab. (Mirko Schmid)
