Zara is a Spanish fashion chain that belongs to the Inditex group. It currently has more than 7,000 stores throughout the world, and has been recognized as the most valuable brand in Spain, ahead of Banco Santander and Movistar. Below we have selected the main curiosities of Zara.

Origin

Amancio Ortega opened the first Zara store in La Coruña in 1975 . At that time he thought of baptizing his establishment with the name of “Zorba” after seeing the movie “Zorba the Greek.” But when he found out that there was a bar with the same name nearby, he rearranged the letters until he found the name “Zara.”

The store was very successful and little by little it began to expand throughout Spain. In 1988 Zara opened its first store outside of Spain . He did it in Porto, Portugal. In 1989 he arrived in the United States and in 1990 in France.

GOA confections

The first company that Amancio Ortega created with his wife, Rosalía Mera, is called Confecciones GOA. It was dedicated to making boatiné robes and bathrobes. The factory continues to operate today. It is located in the Polígono Industrial de Sabón, in Arteixo.

Models

Zara has a total of 30 sets at the Arteixo factory, where dozens of models are working at full capacity. Each model tries on about 15 dresses per day, and takes about 100 photos for each garment . Considering that the brand sells all over the world, look for models of all races. To ensure the variety in the catalog, each model only works one week with the brand.
