How to block unwanted calls? All possible solutions

The phone rings and it’s a call either from a “spam” number or from someone you don’t want to talk to. What are you doing? The first option of all is not to answer that call, but what if they keep calling you? We all know that some companies are able to call even at night and repeatedly. The solution is to block those calls and all those that we do not want to bother us more and for this we just have to follow a series of simple steps that we are going to explain below.

How to block unwanted calls? All possible solutions

Certainly, it has happened to all of us to receive unwanted calls on our smartphones, finding ourselves in front of calls from unknown numbers whose response is either a ” call center ” or a bot or directly that when we pick up the hook they hang up on us. But how do you block unwanted calls? There are several solutions, some simpler and some more “radical.”

In fact, there are multiple applications that do an excellent job of identifying and blocking calls from unknown numbers or from call centers that we already know, but our smartphone, depending on the model it is, is also capable of identifying these types of calls and letting us know so that we have easy the blocking.

Call blocking on Android phones

This is the case of Android phones, many of which notify you when a number that may be “spam” calls you. In fact, a message appears on the screen in which it tells you that the call or message received is likely to be “spam” and asks if you want to block or not. In this case the option is easy since you only have to press block, but in the event that this does not appear on your Android smartphone you can always resort to Phone by Google, an app that you have in the Play Store and that allows you to block numbers easily.

Just open the app, click on the three-dot menu at the top right, then Settings> Blocked numbers . On this screen it will be possible to directly select the blocking of calls from unidentified numbers, or to directly enter specific numbers to a local blacklist.

Call blocking on iOS phones

In the case of the iPhone , as of iOS 13 it is possible to activate the “Silence unknown numbers” function by following the path Settings> Telephone and then tapping on the number we want to block. As in the case of Android, calls from those unknown numbers will now be muted automatically, sent to the answering machine and included in the recent calls list.

Other solutions

An especially recommended alternative is the installation of applications such as TrueCaller , which better identifies the number and also includes a black list in which to place unwanted contacts.

However, all this does not solve the root problem: as long as our telephone number is widespread among call centers and companies, we will continue to receive calls from strangers or from companies of various kinds. This applies to both mobile phones and landlines. The most extreme solution, therefore, is the change of number, which although somewhat cumbersome, is quite fast, since it is enough to take the opportunity to change the rate plan and receive a SIM card with a new number, or change the telephony and network offer fixed.
