Gelsenkirchen – The two-year-old boy who died on Monday (08/30/2021) in a Gelsenkirchen daycare center suffocated in his bed. That was the result of the autopsy of the child, said the senior public prosecutor Birgit Juergens on Wednesday. The exact processes are being investigated further, and no statement can be made on this at the moment.
Educators had found the boy lifeless on Monday after an afternoon nap in the facility. He had been reanimated but died shortly afterwards. Based on the position in which the boy was found, it is believed that he was trapped in a bunk bed.
North Rhine-Westphalia: Another death in a day care center in Lemgo
The boy was said to have been lying down in the bunk bed during his afternoon nap and possibly pushed up the bottom plate of the bed above. Then his head was probably wedged between the bed frame and the bottom plate of the upper bed, a city spokesman said on Tuesday. But all of this is based on conjecture.
Also in North Rhine-Westphalia, a five-year-old boy died in a daycare center in Lemgo on Tuesday (August 31, 2021). The fatal accident occurred while playing on a trailer, now the Detmold public prosecutor’s office announced that it is being investigated for negligent homicide against unknown persons.
