Kassel – In the current ranking of the richest billionaires of the financial service Bloomberg (as of October 12, 2021), Elon Musk is further expanding his lead. With a fortune of 224 billion dollars (192 billion euros), the Tesla boss is the clear number one. He follows Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with 189 billion dollars (163 billion euros).
The numbers are based on the value of their stock holdings for both, according to Bloomberg. Now Elon Musk rubs Jeff Bezos under the nose that he thinks he is more successful – and teases with a tweet.

He posted an article in the US business magazine Barron’s from 1999, in which Amazon and Bezos had been predicted to fail quickly. “That was just one of the many stories that showed us all the ways in which we would fail, exactly. Today Amazon is one of the most successful companies in the world and has revolutionized two entire industries, ”added the founder of the online mail order company.
After Jeff Bezos had praised his own career, Tesla boss Elon Musk finally countered without comment with the silver award emoji – symbolic of second place. A year ago, Elon Musk’s fortune was behind Jeff Bezos.

Bezos and Musk are not only rivals in the rankings of the richest people in the world – their private space companies are also in competition with one another. Bezos’ company Blue Origin recently sued Musk’s company SpaceX to award the US government contract for a spacecraft to land on the moon.

Musk, 50 years old, had already teased for this reason: “You can’t complain to the moon, no matter how good the lawyers are,” he said at a conference in September.
At the same time, the US newspaper Washington Post reported on Monday that a “toxic” corporate culture at Blue Origin had slowed down the company’s progress and made it difficult to compete with SpaceX.
