The San Francisco 49ers have reached a new deal with Left Tackle Trent Williams. The player himself indicated this on Instagram, several media also confirmed the message.
Williams wins a six-year contract worth $ 136 million in San Francisco. This makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
$ 55.1 million is guaranteed. And of that, $ 30.1 million is the signing bonus.
Williams was the first round pick for the Washington team in the 2010 draft (4th pick overall). There he played until the 2018 season. Then he sat the entire 2019 season after a dispute with the team regarding a misdiagnosis by the team doctor.
After the 2019 season, he was then allowed to look for a trading partner. Finally, he switched to the 49ers, where he played 14 of the 16 season games.
According to reports, Williams wanted to stay in San Francisco anyway and both sides have now reached an agreement that Williams will probably keep for the rest of his career in the Bay Area.
