The Chicago Bears have found their quarterback for 2021: Andy Dalton has agreed on a one-year contract with the Bears.
The deal is reportedly valued at $ 10 million and can be worth a maximum of $ 13 million.
Dalton takes on the legacy of Mitch Trubisky, who the Bears had previously released as a free agent on the market. Last season, Dalton stepped in in Dallas after Dak Prescott was injured. In eleven games he put on 2,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and eleven interceptions.
In Chicago it is now up to him to implement Coach Matt Nagy’s offense as efficiently as possible. For this it will be essential for the Bears to keep Allen Robinson on the team. So far, the number 1 receiver has not signed its franchise tag. Because for Nagy, as for Ryan Pace, it could be the final year at the Bears if the season turns out to be a disappointment.
And Dalton wasn’t the first option for that either. ESPN insider Adam Schefter also reports that, as was previously rumored, the Bears actually tried aggressively to initiate a trade for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Seattle ultimately informed Chicago, however, that such a trade is currently not an option.
