Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to extend their contract. The 43-year-old quarterback will stay with the Florida franchise for the next two seasons.
As reported by ESPN and NFL Network , the Bucs will receive around $ 19 million in additional cap space. This was Brady’s wish to keep his star team together as much as possible. Among other things, the contracts of Shaquille Barrett and Rob Gronkowski are running out.
“In pursuit of 8 ( eighth ring, editor’s note ) … LFG @Buccaneers we keep the band together,” wrote Brady on Twitter.
Brady, who will turn 44 in August, had already announced that he would be active until at least 45 years old. The quarterback is enjoying working with head coach Bruce Arians, the reports said.
Brady’s original contract would have ended next year. He would have raked in $ 28.375 million in the 2021 season, but the restructuring is likely to reduce that amount significantly.
In his first season for the Florida team, Brady won his seventh Super Bowl, giving Tampa Bay the second title in the club’s history.
