A woman accuses Prince Andrew of molesting her as a minor and has filed a civil lawsuit in the United States. A court hearing is planned in a few days.
New York / London – In the legal dispute over allegations of abuse against Prince Andrew (61), the US lawyers of the Queen’s son have asked the court to dismiss a US woman’s civil suit.
The allegations were unfounded and the Royal rejected them unequivocally, the British media quoted from documents that the lawyers submitted to the court in New York.
“Accusing a member of the world’s most prominent royal family of serious misconduct has helped (Virginia) Giuffre create a media hype online and in the traditional press,” it said. “It is regrettable, but not to be denied, that greed for sensation and innuendo have triumphed over the truth.”
The American Virginia Giuffre has sued Andrew for damages. She accuses him of sexually abusing her 20 years ago when she was 17 years old. Giuffre claims to have been made a sex slave by the now deceased US multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his ex-partner Ghislaine Maxwell together with dozens of other minors. Andrew has been criticized for years because of his previous friendship with Epstein and has therefore ended his royal duties.
A court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday (November 3rd) in New York. Recently, Judge Lewis Kaplan ordered that all statements must be completed by mid-July 2022. dpa
