Woman in Tahiti hits French jackpot

She has never seen snow before. The young woman who cracked France's Euromillion jackpot lives in the South Seas, 15,000 kilometers from Europe. Since she lives in Tahiti, she was able to take part in the lottery in French Polynesia. There she won the highest amount of gambling in France in October: 220 million euros. The French, who wants to remain anonymous, played for the first time. She had taken the numbers from a random generator.

The young woman from the island paradise will have to pay a lot of taxes in France. With the rest, as the Parisian media calculate, she could buy two Airbus planes or 275 tons of Périgord truffles. But the winner has other plans: She wants to start a business and support aid projects for children. In addition, she would like to buy a small dump on every continent so that she can travel around the world with her family. According to the lottery operator Française des Jeux, she would like to travel to an area with snow – because she has never seen it before. “I will remain a simple person”, the winner assured, “and continue to go barefoot.” Except when she is perhaps traveling to the Alps to finally throw a snowball.
