“Continuing undeterred”: 29-year-olds brush with a 2.82 per thousand traffic light mast and traffic sign

May 1st invites you to do a lot of stupid things. A 29-year-old got into the car while drunk and destroyed a traffic light pole.

Mannheim / Feudenheim – At the weekend, some Germans grab a bottle. Alcohol is a recreational activity for some. This may not be wild in small amounts, but when it gets too much, some stupid things happen. The limit of 0.5 per mille is quickly exceeded and participation in road traffic is therefore prohibited.

Mannheim: Drunk driver drives on undeterred

Already in the night from April 30th to May 1st, a tractor driver in Rhineland-Palatinate caused a curious moment when the police pulled the young man out of traffic with a case of beer * after curfew. However, a 29-year-old didn’t wait that long.

On the evening of May 1st at 7.15 p.m., the young man drove his Daimler-Benz towards Feudenheim (a district of Mannheim in Baden-Württemberg). The driver lost control and brushed against a traffic light pole and a traffic sign. But that didn’t seem to interest him, as the Mannheim police headquarters reported, because the 29-year-old continued his journey “undeterred”.

Mannheim: 2.82 per mille are determined

An ambulance witnessed the incident and alerted the police. When the 29-year-old parked his vehicle, the officers who had been summoned checked him. And when you look at the test device, it quickly became clear why the traffic rowdy drove on regardless of the damage: the device probably indicated 2.82 per mil. The police also reported that the driver’s license was withheld and a blood sample was taken.

“The damage to his car is estimated at around 4,000 euros. The damage to the traffic equipment amounts to approx. 2000 euros, ”the police wrote in their message. An expensive intoxication for the 29-year-old, who now has to answer for the endangerment of road traffic and drunk driving.
