The number of new corona infections is increasing, as is the number of those who want to be vaccinated. In front of some vaccination centers, people had to queue for a long time.
Berlin – The rapid increase in new corona infections is followed by a great rush of vaccination offers in some places in Germany. In Bavaria, for example, those wishing to be vaccinated had to expect long waiting times on Saturday due to the high demand.
In Augsburg, the city appealed to citizens on Saturday morning not to visit the vaccination center without an appointment. The capacities are exhausted. According to a spokeswoman, not only was the vaccine in short supply, the vaccination center also reached its limits in terms of personnel. In Munich, too, the vaccination center and vaccination stations had to cope with the large number of people. The state capital’s health department therefore appealed to citizens to make vaccination appointments.
Due to the high demand for booster vaccinations, there was also a lot going on at the Thuringian vaccination centers on Saturday. Nationwide, people could have themselves injected against Covid-19 in the regional vaccination centers on Saturday until 1.30 p.m. without making an appointment. In Gera, for example, numerous people were waiting in front of the vaccination center later on. At the vaccination station of the city of Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt, it looked similar on Saturday. Vaccination coordinator Dennis Brandt said that the vaccination point had been “running down” for a week. “Today and yesterday are new record numbers.”
After Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria have the highest seven-day incidences of the federal states. dpa
