Juan Carlos and Europe: he owns the old Estoril family seat
Built in 1936 as a chalet for the Estoril Golf Club, from 1948 the house was the residence of the Spanish royal family *, who fled into exile in 1931. Juan Carlos’ family called Estoril their home for many years. Juan de Borbón y Battenberg (79, †1993), the father of the Old King, lived there until 1989. When he died, the villa became the property of his eldest son.
