Additional beds set up: RS respiratory virus causes problems for children's clinic

The RS respiratory virus troubles many children, parents, the children’s clinic of the Fulda Clinic and many paediatricians.

Fulda – In the past few weeks, so many parents with sick children have come to the children’s clinic that beds have been set up even in examination rooms so as not to send a child away – regardless of whether they suffered from the RS virus or another illness. The children’s clinic at the Fulda Clinic * is proud of this. “This is only possible through the very high level of commitment of the team and very flexible occupancy management,” explains Professor Dr. Reinald Repp (64), chief physician at the children’s clinic.
Fuldaerzeitung.de reveals why so many children become infected with the RS virus. *

In the children’s clinic, around one in four small patients is currently struggling with the RS virus. As of November 17, 150 infants and young children had been treated with the RS virus. Six of the 150 children had to be treated in the intensive care unit, three of them ventilated, reports Repp. Most of the affected children can be discharged after a few days. * fuldaerzeitung.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
