Animals are not gifts. And yet the puppy business is booming, especially in the run-up to Christmas. Criminals also take advantage of this.
Stuttgart – At the moment you can hardly save yourself from offers on online platforms: puppies of all breeds are offered for sale there. From ridiculous prices of a few hundred euros to offers that go over 2,000 euros, everything is available. But how serious are these advertisements? From the experience of the animal rights activists, there are also illegal traders who smuggle the puppies from abroad to Germany. Without vaccination and without papers.
BW24 * spoke to PETA and the Stuttgart animal shelter about the cruel business of the puppy trade.
"The illegal animal trade is the third largest illegal business after the drug and arms trade," says Jana Hoger, PETA's specialist advisor for animal roommates, to BW24 *. Business is booming again at Christmas time – to the chagrin of the animals. * BW24 is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
