Incidence explodes: Sylt is taking a Corona break – voluntarily

Omikron has hit the holiday destination of Sylt in full. The incidence is over 1500. Now restaurants and hotels on the island are taking a voluntary Corona break.

Westerland – The Omikron variant does not stop at the largest North Frisian island either: After there were supposedly just 30 infected people on Sylt on Christmas Eve, the numbers skyrocketed around the New Year. 140 corona cases have already been reported on New Year's Eve. In the meantime, however, the 7-day incidence on the popular holiday island is at a new record of over 1500. On Sunday, the North Friesland district reported 476 corona cases, reports the "Sylter Rundschau". 572 people are in quarantine. How could such a rapid increase in the corona numbers come about?
24hamburg.de * reveals why Omikron is paralyzing Sylt and how it got this far.

Now Sylt is taking a self-imposed corona break. Numerous restaurants and hotels on the island have closed or will close their doors for the time being in the coming week. These include the “Stadt Hamburg” hotel, the “Gosch am Kliff” in Wenningstedt and the “Alte Friesenstube” in Westerland. * 24hamburg.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
