Exclusively vegan food in the football stadium. It's certainly an unimaginable scenario for many fans – an English club is making it a reality.
Nailsworth – For many football fans, that would probably be the absolute nightmare. After all, the bratwurst in bread with a delicious beer is as much a part of a visit to the stadium as the goal is to football. But an English club is now taking a big step in an environmentally friendly way and only offers vegan food in its own stadium. The club's players also wear jerseys made from recycled plastic and bamboo fibers and are driven to their away games in an electric bus. As a result of these and other long-term consequences, the fourth division team has become the first climate-neutral club in the world – and has already received awards from FIFA and the United Nations for its sustainable commitment.
24hamburg.de* reveals which football club only offers vegan food in the stadium.
At first, fans of the football club were not without exception enthusiastic about this idea. "Food was the biggest barrier at the beginning and we were attacked by fans for it, nothing was good enough," the president of the football club told "Spiegel". In the meantime, however, they would sell four times as much food as before. * 24hamburg.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
