A dog and her puppies seek shelter in a drainpipe before a snowstorm in Siberia. A man braves the storm and launches a rescue operation.
Siberia – A touching animal rescue story has unfolded in Siberia. During the winter months, a homeless dog named Hera gives birth to her puppies on the street. During a day-long snowstorm, the dog takes shelter in a cold and wet roadside drainpipe.
Over time, the puppies become weaker and sicker from the cold. Hera panics. Every time she hears a vehicle drive by, she runs out of the pipe – hoping someone would help her and her babies.
Travelers notice helpless dogs in drain and call for help
Luckily, according to iheartdogs , there are some concerned travelers who notice the helpless dog and contact a member of the Mladenovac Canine Rescue Association. A man named Milan takes to the streets in freezing temperatures to save Hera and her puppies. Although most of the pipes in the area are covered in snow due to the ongoing blizzard, Milan uses their paw prints to locate the mother and her puppies.
In a heartwarming YouTube video, Hera can be seen running excitedly out of the pipe when she hears Milan’s footsteps. The man is overjoyed to have found the dog – but also inconsolable. The four-week-old puppies are in a miserable condition – they are completely soaked and shaking in the tube.
Puppies rescue operation proves difficult
However, getting the puppies out of their uncomfortable quarters proves to be quite difficult, according to iherartdogs , because unlike their mother, they are not used to people. Despite Milan’s assurances, they refuse to come out.
He hatches a plan: First, he lets Hera into the tube – in the hope that her puppies would follow her out on their own – unsuccessfully. Next he puts out some food to lure them out – again the frightened little dogs are unresponsive. Only with the help of a broom does he succeed in carefully pushing the three out.
Happy and touched, he holds her in his arms and kisses one of the puppies affectionately on the head. Then he takes her into the car, where her hypothermic mother is already waiting for her. When they arrive at the animal club, they are greeted excitedly by many other dogs. (ebb)
