The inferno in Freimann *: Friday afternoon at around 11 a.m., a fire in an approximately 600 square meter warehouse * of a logistics company on Lindberghstraße triggered a fire brigade with 110 emergency services. One person was slightly injured and was treated briefly at the scene. The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified, it is being investigated, said a police spokesman yesterday. The amount of property damage is still unclear.

“Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured,” says the managing director of the affected logistics company Go Express & Logistics Rüdiger Neumann. A warehouse in Freimann was on fire. The plume of smoke could be seen miles away.

Neighbor Markus Klausen, who works at the recycling center across the street, was also an eyewitness to the disaster: “The fire could not be overlooked.” He was in the kitchen with his colleagues when he noticed it. “One trainee said relatively tritely that the roof was on fire. I also wanted to call the fire brigade directly, but I couldn’t get through.” No wonder: the column of smoke was visible all over Munich. Then the police came and evacuated them to the yard, says Klausen.

Fire in Freimann: hours of extinguishing work

At around 12 noon on Friday, a spokesman for the fire brigade finally announced that the fire was under control but had not yet been extinguished. The operation drags on, the roof of the hall is in danger of collapsing, which is why they cannot go directly into the hall to extinguish it. A crane had to lift the roof so that the emergency services could extinguish it from above. At the same time, it is important to prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring office building.

Hours later, the after-extinguishing work continues, parts of the facade are removed so that the gathering storm doesn’t blow them away. What caused the fire remains open this Friday (February 18). However, everyone agrees: Fortunately, nothing bad happened to anyone. (Schuster/leo) *tz.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
