Father and daughter reunited: Princess Delphine made her first official appearance alongside former King Albert of Belgium.
Brussels – For years Princess Delphine (53) had to fight for recognition, now she has found her place in the Belgian royal family. The illegitimate daughter of former king Albert II (87) appeared in front of the camera with her father for the first time.
In October 2020, Delphine Boël became Belgium’s new princess thanks to a court ruling. As the daughter of Albert II, who passed the crown on to his eldest son Philippe (61) in 2013, she has borne the surname of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha ever since. The former regent denied paternity for a long time, but the two have now become closer. Only a few weeks after the verdict was announced, the first private meeting between Delphine, Albert and his wife Paola (84) took place, and Albert has already met his “new” grandchildren.
24royal.de* knows why not only Princess Delphine’s appearance caused a stir.
Delphine made her first appearance alongside her siblings on last year’s national holiday, and now her first public appointment with father Albert has followed. The Belgian royal family gathers on February 17th every year to commemorate the late royals. Princess Delphine and husband James O’Hare as well as former King Albert and former Queen Paola and their three children King Philippe, Princess Astrid (59) and Prince Laurent (58) together appeared at this year’s fair in the Church of Our Lady in Laeken, a district of Brussels spouse. *24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
