Soldier runs through Taliban hail of bullets to rescue injured dog

This is true friendship: A British soldier walks through a hail of bullets in Afghanistan to save his dog.

Afghanistan – A truly heroic deed was performed by a British soldier in Afghanistan. In one operation, he ran through gunfire only to save his canine companion, who had earlier been wounded by a gunshot. He carried the four-legged friend 50 meters across open terrain and staunched his blood during a helicopter flight to a British base in Afghanistan.

A source said: “That was really heroic. There is an unbreakable bond between the dog handlers and their dogs.” According to the British online portal Mirror, the British soldiers were on a mission to disable Taliban fighters.

Before his injury, the dog tracked down another Taliban fighter

The dog was used to track down a sniper from enemy fighters. And he succeeded: he attacked the sniper and forced him into the open, where he was shot by the British soldiers. The animal was looking for another target when it was hit itself.

The source told the Mirror: “He was badly injured and bleeding profusely. But he survived and was returned to Britain.” Now the British soldier who saved his canine friend has been awarded a medal for bravery. (ebb)
