Duchess Kate shows how it’s done: her stylish look in green in wintry Wales kills many birds with one stone. Why elegance alone wasn’t enough on National Day.
Abergavenny – Carrying a bouquet of yellow daffodils, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived on St David’s Day, the Welsh national holiday, in time for the day’s appointments in nearby Abergavenny and Blaenavon. The couple spent the morning strolling around the market. Many requirements for an outfit that should be solemn, yet casual, suitable for the occasion, crown and partner, for indoors and outdoors. Duchess Kate shows how easy it can be.*
Thousands of eyes focus on Duchess Kate* (40) Prince William* (39) when visiting Wales. The royal couple have come to celebrate St. David’s Day on March 1st (Welsh: Dydd Gŵyl Dewi), the day of honor for the Welsh patron saint, in the part of the United Kingdom, the yellow daffodil as a pin was obligatory.
But the rest of the elegant appearances not only delighted the Welsh fans. A figure-hugging turtleneck jumper peeked out from under the exhibited fir-green coat of the mother-of-three and made the Duchess’ eyes shine with the yellow flower highlight on the lapel. Black skinny jeans and a pair of black suede boots completed the look. Kate wore a pair of Spells of Love gold hoop earrings with her wavy hair worn loose.
Prince William also visibly enjoyed the trip to the market, where the two tried local delicacies and were able to find out first-hand about the products from the region. While chatting with the warm-hearted residents, the Duke of Cambridge even revealed a little ritual* that he shares with his children.
Prince William wore a navy blue coat and a light blue button-up under his sweatshirt in the same forest hue as Kate’s ensemble. Even without coats, the two could be seen, as it turned out at the Neon Youth Club in Blaenavon.
In Wales, the Duchess did without her recycling trick of double coats* and, in addition to the coat, only had an outdoor jacket from Seeland Woodcock, a red cashmere stole from Pickett London and a pair of brown Blundstones in her luggage. So she could easily change into the more representative outfit on the way from the farm tour.
