The corona incidence in NRW is still high. The Prime Minister therefore calls for caution.
NRW – For many people in Germany’s most populous federal state, the decision to relax NRW’s corona rules* is probably a long-awaited step back towards normality. However, Prime Minister Henrik Wüst (CDU) points out that the danger is not over yet, as RUHR24* reports.

Corona loosening in NRW: Prime Minister warns of a new wave
The fact that there are less severe courses of illness with Covid-19* and therefore fewer hospitalizations brings new hope to many people after more than two years of life in the pandemic. The government sees it that way too. Clubs are therefore allowed to reopen in compliance with the Corona rules that apply there.*
There are also relaxations in terms of corona measures for travel enthusiasts, such as when returning from vacation.* In addition, it is planned that further protective measures will no longer apply from March 20th. But it should not be forgotten that the 7-day incidence of over 1,000 remains high in the most populous federal state (as of March 5, 2022).
NRW Prime Minister Henrik Wüst wants to draw the consequences from this. “It’s time to prepare for what can still come,” warns the CDU politician, according to the German Press Agency (DPA) when visiting a hospital in Düsseldorf (further information and news about the corona virus in NRW * at RUHR24) .
Corona rules in NRW: which measures should remain in place
“Basic protection” is therefore important in order to minimize the risk of infection with the corona virus. These include, for example, the obligation to wear masks and distance rules. This is also crucial with regard to the coming months. As the past few years have shown, a renewed increase in the number of infections towards the end of the year cannot be ruled out.
“It’s clear: The next wave can roll towards us in autumn or winter. That’s what all the experts tell us and we have to be prepared for that,” warns the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, according to the DPA . The decisive step to prevent this is vaccination against the corona virus.
Next Corona wave in autumn? Experts recommend vaccination against Covid-19
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) and Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) also warn of a possible next corona wave from autumn. The “Freedom Day” hoped for by many people, when all measures and rules are to be lifted, is therefore still a long time coming. Because Karl Lauterbach spoke out against the far-reaching easing that is planned from March 20th.
In addition to wearing medical surgical and FFP2 masks, regular testing is also important for the Minister of Health to protect against an increasing spread. NRW Prime Minister Henrik Wüst hopes for an even higher vaccination rate in the coming time with the new Corona vaccine Novavax.*

The CDU politician was not only surprised by the number of unvaccinated people, but also by the “high number” of people who have not yet received a booster vaccination, i.e. no booster vaccination against the corona virus. After all: People who are particularly at risk should be better protected by the upcoming vaccination requirement for people who work in the medical field or in care. *RUHR24 is part of the IPPEN.MEDIA editorial network.
