What does the word "neutralized" mean in French? Now it's clear: a man threatened police officers with a gun. Now he is dead.
Marseille – After a knife attack on police officers in Marseille, southern France, the perpetrator is dead. The police confirmed this on Sunday.
France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin had previously written that the man had been "neutralized". "Neutraliser" can mean "switch off" or "kill" in French, among other things.
The man had threatened police officers in front of Marseille City Hall on Saturday morning with a knife and injured a police officer. Officers then fired. According to Darmanin, the attacker was French and not known to the police. Investigations are ongoing. dpa
