Donald Trump continues to want to influence American politics for just a few days to mark his first month as former president. Now he has taken it up with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, whom he has identified as the new target to attack: he has asked his party members to turn against him as revenge for what he sees as a Treason. Trump has called on Republican senators to turn against their leader in the Senate because he assured that the former president was “practically and morally responsible” for the assault on the Capitol on January 6. Trump has launched a statement, in a scathing tone of the house, in which he assures that “the Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political ‘leaders’ such as Senator Mitch McConnell at the head”, underlining that with him at the head of the bench of their own, “they will not win again.” Donald Trump has just passed his second impeachment process in the United States, after the two-thirds majority needed to remove r forward this peculiar episode, the first with an already former president as a political defendant. Seven Republican senators voted against Trump, but not McConnell himself, who did want to point out that he would vote in favor of the tycoon regardless of what he thought about his guilt or not as the instigator of the January 6 riots. McConnell showed his opposition to the process because he claimed that it was nothing more than a symbolic revenge carried out by the Democratic provost with Nancy Pelosi at the head.McConnell has made it clear that his opinion is that Trump was the culprit of the unfortunate images seen on January 6, when a mob of disguised guys entered the kitchen in the Capitol. He was also the one who marked a turning point in the support of the Republican Party to Donald Trump in his flight forward during the judicial journey when the outgoing president refused to acknowledge the electoral results that gave Joe Biden the victory. At first, McConnell aligned himself with Trump, defending his logical right to present the judicial battles that he deemed appropriate, but as the deadlines for the proclamation of Biden were met and most of the legal strategies of the Trump team were crashing against the judges, McConnell also ended up granting that there was no point in continuing to give political support to the tycoon. It was then that Trump turned against him and, since then, he has not ceased to be part of the increasingly large group of his enemies.
