According to their results, the mutations can be classified as morphological, biochemical or nutritional, gain of function, conditional, lethal and deleterious, or loss of function. In beings made up of more than one cell (multicellular), mutations can only be inherited if they affect reproductive cells.
Mutations can have very negative consequences such as the development of genetic diseases. Despite this, all scientists agree that mutations are essential for our existence, since without changes in genes, life could not continue to evolve.
