Who has more sexual fantasies, men or women?

A study carried out by researchers from the University of Granada has shown thatthere are no significant differences between the sexual fantasies commonly experienced by men and women, since both sexes fantasize about intimate or romantic aspects that involve the partner or loved one. To carry out this research, its authors worked with a sample of 2,250 Spaniards (49.6% men and 50.4% women), aged between 18 and 73 years and who had been in a heterosexual relationship for, at least the last six months.

The results obtained indicate thatalmost 100% of men and women have experienced a sexual fantasy in a pleasant and pleasant waythroughout their life, and around 80% of the surveyed sample report having experienced at least one sexual fantasy in a negative or unpleasant way at some point.

However, there are differences when comparing the frequency with which certain fantasies are had in both sexes. In particular, the scientists observed that women experience in a pleasant way, more frequently than men, intimate and romantic fantasies, having these thoughts approximately a few times a month. However, men think more often than they do in exploratory activities, related to group sex or seeking new sensations, such as “being promiscuous”, “swingers” or “participating in an orgy”. The frequency of these fantasies range from “once in a lifetime” to “once a year”.

Researchers from the University of Granada warn that having sexual fantasies “favors aspects such as sexual desire or arousal, which is why it is an indicator of sexual health.” In the framework of therapy, they affirm that it is necessary to take into account, in addition to the presence or absence of fantasies, the patient’s attitude towards them.
