Queen Elizabeth once again takes a political stance on the Ukraine war. Her thoughts on Independence Day are with Ukrainians in an “extremely challenging year”. She addressed her personal, heartfelt words directly to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in front of the whole world.

LONDON — Queen Elizabeth II (96) thinks of Ukraine, which celebrates the 31st anniversary of independence from Russia on August 24. The Queen sends warm words to President Selenskyj (44), but there is much more behind the congratulations. The head of the British monarchy repeatedly disregards his actually non-political role and, in bloody times of war, takes a clear position worldwide on behalf of the country Great Britain.

Queen unequivocally sends her words on Twitter via the British Embassy in Kyiv

The Queen tweeted her message to the President of Ukraine: ” It gives me great pleasure to convey my warmest Independence Day greetings to Your Excellency and to the people of Ukraine. In this extremely difficult year, I hope that today will be an occasion for the Ukrainian people, both in Ukraine and around the world, to celebrate their culture, history and identity,” she continued. “May we look to better times in the future, ” she said, signing off with her personal signature, “Elizabeth R.” .

The message was posted by the British Embassy in Kyiv’s Twitter account and quoted the messages as saying: “To the President of Ukraine”.

The monarch had already expressed her support for Ukraine at the beginning of the conflict. With consummate British restraint, the Queen had made a “generous donation” that was only revealed because Zelenskyy thanked Her Majesty for “the continued support of the Disasters Emergency Committee and for the generous donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal,” via the British Aid organization thanked Twitter.

Queen Elizabeth II received support from outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson

The tweets followed warnings of increased attacks by Moscow in the country – an attack on a train station on Independence Day killed 22 people and injured many, a train was destroyed and wagons were on fire. Outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson (58) also paid a surprise visit to Kyiv to reiterate UK support. He pledged a further £54million (just under €64million) for the country.

Like Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles (73), his wife Camilla (74), Prince William (40), Kate Middleton (40) and ex-royals Prince Harry (37) and wife Meghan Markle (41) have them supported Ukraine in the war. The Prince of Wales made a surprise trip to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, to get a first-hand look at the efforts being made to help refugees crossing the border from neighboring Ukraine.
