What led you to write “Ecosystem of Corporate Well-being and Happiness”, a business-type book?

The need for healthy people and work teams. This book is a compilation of my experience on key issues today, such as happiness and personal well-being, in this opportunity focused on the business area. The work has two purposes: first, to create an ecosystem of corporate happiness and well-being, and second, to create leaders of positive contagion.

How to properly manage a culture of well-being and corporate happiness in times of digital hyperconnectivity in a company?

It is no secret to anyone that technology can make us too happy or too unhappy. The book brings a chapter on well-being and digital happiness in which tools are given for its good use.

When you talk about creating contagious leaders, what do you mean?

A positive contagion leader is a human being who is trained in seven specific skills, which here will be called the seven keys to the heart of the positive contagion leader. Some people are fortunate to be born with them, but it is also possible to develop them during life or in the company. The point is that these skills are like a muscle that requires constant practice. These seven keys or skills of positive contagion leaders are: self-knowledge, communication, relationship, resilience, determination and achievement, leader as a mentor coach and purpose or a whole heart.

How to create a culture of well-being and happiness in a company?

The first thing is to find out what are those automated behaviors that make them what they are today. That is, it is to identify behaviors, symbols, dynamics, ways of doing things, type of language used, how, in what way and at what time. It is vital to identify if there is any symbol with which the collaborators feel identified. Then apply the three ‘Rs’ strategy: recall, repetition, and rituals.

You have carried out studies on well-being and happiness in companies, what type of studies and what results can you comment on?

I have consulted in more than 90 companies in nine countries. And surveys of more than 10,000 people on issues of happiness and well-being, including the resilience test. The results are compiled in the book. That is why it explains how to achieve an ecosystem of well-being and happiness, how to have positive contagion leaders and how to create internal measurements.

What are the types of measurement for companies in aspects of well-being and happiness?

There are thousands of types of measurement, from active to passive, but what you are really looking for is presence, focus and proper stress management. The book brings an explanation of mindfulness and various 21-day meditation challenges. Mindfulness as a tool for self-management and stress management: for leaders of positive contagion it is very important to remain calm when the situation requires it. The aim is to work on the reports of the World Health Organization, which indicate that 80% of illnesses and 60% of unproductivity are caused by poor stress management.

In this age of pandemic, how can companies boost employee well-being?

With many self-care campaigns. As a consultant and coach it is clear that no one in this world changes for you, but yourself. When a person wants to live happily and healthily, they make changes. What any marketing campaign does is show different ways of living, and that the user chooses. The idea is that they can choose to be happy. In the book I share several self-care campaigns.

What tips can you give readers to find happiness and well-being in your work?

The most important thing is that they work on themselves, self-knowledge leads to reflection, which at the same time achieves changes and new results.

The book “Ecosystem of Corporate Well-being and Happiness” is divided into three main parts, why?

That’s how it is. The first purpose you will find in part A, where I will accompany you to create your own ecosystem of corporate well-being and happiness. The second purpose, the creation of positive contagion leaders, you will find in part B. Here, I will guide you through the scientific theories behind the concepts of happiness (Dr. Seligman’s perma), resilience (Dr. Karen Reivich) and determination (Dr. Angela Duckworth), among others. As well as a checklist of skills that positive contagion leaders must have, acquire or develop. And finally, a C part, as an extra, but of great importance. The creation of happiness indicators, in which we will see the different types of measurements, to finally give you the recommendations so that you can build your own happiness measurements.
