How to speed up Safari on Mac step by step

Safari is the default web browser that we find on the different compatible Apple devices, such as macOS or iOS. However, it is true that the operating system offers us the possibility of changing the web browser, choosing another browser by default.

In any case, if you want to continue using Safari on your device, you may have already realized that, on certain occasions, it may work more slowly. This is a very common problem, which also affects other popular browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox.

Luckily, it is possible to improve the speed of Safari on Mac . And to achieve this, it is enough to follow a series of basic steps to accelerate the Apple browser as much as possible.

Disabling search suggestions in Safari

As the name suggests, search suggestions are meant to get us where we want to go much faster. However, some users find that Safari may fail to type in the search bar, preventing the browser from working normally.

To solve it, we must open Safari and open the preferences panel . We select the Search option and in the “Search engine” section we uncheck the “Include search engine suggestions” option. Finally, we close “Preferences” and clear the browser cache, something that we will explain in the next step.

Manually clearing Safari cache files

Cache files are extremely useful in improving the performance and speed of Safari when browsing websites that we have visited before not too long ago. But when the files are too large, the browser may take a little longer than normal to find the correct content in the files.

For this reason, clearing Safari caches , as with any other web browser, can be a useful option to speed it up.

To do this, it is necessary to open the Preferences panel in Safari, and click on the Advanced tab. Now, we activate the Development menu, and in the drop-down list we select the Clear caches option.

Disabling extensions

Although extensions can be very useful, it is possible that some that have been installed for a long time we simply no longer need them. If so, disabling the extensions can be an interesting option when it comes to speeding up the browser.

To do this, we open Safari and click on the Safari button that we will find located in the upper left corner of our screen. Next, in the drop-down menu, click on Preferences , and then click on Extensions .

Finally, we uncheck those extensions that we are not interested in to disable them. Likewise, it is also possible to eliminate them when we do not need them.
